Mediacontroller on lockscreen disappearing after inactivity

Solved!

Mediacontroller on lockscreen disappearing after inactivity

Hi,

I've been using Spotify Premium for a few months now but what has been bothering me since the start is an issue with the media controller on the lock screen. If I leave Spotify in the background after listening to music, the mediacontroller will just disappear after a while (sometimes after a few minutes, other times after hours). Doesn't matter if I use my phone in the meantime or not.

Note: Only the mediacontroller on the lock screen/Spotify Icon in the notification bar disappears. Spotify itself stays always open when I check my background apps and processes.

Changing the notification settings (high priority) and batter saving options (not optimized) didn't help; neither did rebooting my phone, reinstalling Spotify or clearing the cache.

Tried both online and offline mode. It's even worse in offline, since my queue gets resetted and I have to shuffle my playlist again, which means I often hear the (almost) same songs on my way to work and back.

Just as I wanted to check my phone for the Spotify version it was gone again...

Version 7.2.0.1250 armV7

Android 6.0.1

Phone: Sony Xperia X

Thanks in advance for your help.

So after a bit more research I found out some people have the same issue on Samsung phones. As mentioned in my previous post, the battery optimization feature moves Spotify to the cache. Since there is no way to prevent this, I simply use Bluetooth connect & Play and leave Spotify in online mode with restricted data usage. Some 3rd Party lockscreen music widget are apparently not affected, but I haven't tried any yet. I really hope this gets fixed in the future. If 3rd Party widgets are able to stay open, Spotify's widget should be able too.
