Hey there,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
When it comes to the first issue that you've described, there's an Android Auto setting which should disable the music from auto playing when connected. You can check out this thread and what other users have shared. It's worth giving the steps a try in case they change Spotify's behavior on your end.
About the Daily mixes, they do get updated daily and it's possible that this is the reason why they get opened with a delay for you. However, it'd still be worth logging out and back in, as well as giving the app a clean reinstall so that everything is synced up.
Keep us posted and we're here if you need help with anything else 🙂
Thanks for the response.
Problem 1) this did not fix the problem. I'm 100% okay with music starting
when I turn my car on (reading that thread, it makes a lot of people
unreasonably mad). That's not the issue. My problem comes when I'm trying
to listen to anything BUT Spotify (again, Major League Baseball, YouTube,
Pandora, anything with sound not named Spotify) and I need to adjust the
volume. It immediately reverts back to Spotify as soon as I adjust the
volume up or down. I basically have to turn the music up really loud, then
click play on the other app again. This is EXTREMELY annoying and dangerous
when I have to find the play button, again, on my phone while driving.
Problem 2) the reinstall did resolve the problem for now, but I'll keep an
eye on it and see if it gets out of sync again. For the record, I
understand the Daily Mixes change daily, but it has always been accurate
daily when I click into a mix. Now all of a sudden, they're all a
completely different mix when I click on them. Example: I click a mix that
says "J Dilla, Bone Thugs n Harmony, A Tribe Called Quest", and when it
opens up, it's a mix of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Chappell Roan, etc... All
fine in their own right, but not the hip hop mix I was looking for.
PLEASE FIX PROBLEM ONE! It's a huge issue.
Thanks!
Hey @pherzog,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the clarification.
To continue investigating this behavior, would you mind checking if you have any Android Auto update pending on your phone? To check this, you can follow these steps:
Also, would you mind using a different device connected with Android auto as well (with your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.
Just saw this response.
Since I posted my last response, problem 2 started again, literally the next day. They mixes update on the main page, but when I click on a mix, it takes me to a completely different one. I've tried force closing and reopening the app, but it doesn't work. The only thing that worked was uninstalling and reinstalling, which I shouldn't have to do every time. Regarding problem one, it does it with a Google Pixel 6 Pro, a Google Pixel 8a, my old S21 Ultra, now my S23 ultra. Every phone I've ever connected to Android Auto has done this. It's maddening.
There is no pending Spotify update.
S23 Ultra running Android 14
Spotify version 8.9.82.620
Hey @pherzog,
Thanks for your reply and the info.
We've checked on our end and so far, we couldn't find any similar reports, so we need to do some basic troubleshooting before we forward your report to the relevant team. Is it possible to ask a friend or a family member to log in to their account on your phone or pair their device (and account) with the car and check if they get the same behavior?
Keep us posted.
