Music stops playing when skipping songs

Alright so for whatever reason, Spotify has started this weird issue where if I go from my tablets lock screen to skip a song, it stops playing. However, when I unlock my device the music immediately starts playing again.

I have tried turning off/on the wifi to see if it was a data streaming issue.

I have also tried reinstalling the app.

Neither solution has worked. My tablet is 6months old, is the Samsung Tab A. Have a 32gb SD card inside it.

So storage or old soft/hardware is not the issue. 

Is there anything I can do to fix this

Have a read of this thread relating to power saving features of Samsung/Android which may be causing your issue.
