So, a couple of days ago there was a new update for spotify on my phone (samsung galaxy y pro), when i updated spotify it stopped working like i could no longer click the spotify button since my phone screen would just turn black for no reason 😮 ive had no problem with spotify on this phone before so i was just wondering if there are any other people who have this problem and how to solve it :P? Also, is there any way to degrade spotify to the last version of it (since it worked with that version:P) aaaaand i have tried all troubleshooting things 😛
I had to delete the add and install it again. Then it started working for me. However, Spotify seems to have forgotten that I am a premium member now and informing me that I need to strat paying (again).
I did delete the app and installed it again a bunch of times but it hasn't worked 😞
Hi. Try another reinstall following the troubleshooting guide in this post if you haven't already.

Hey there, make sure to log in with your username jessikal (not your full email address) and everything should run as it should.
I too have a ‘dead’ Spotify since the latest update a few days ago.
This is not acceptable as I am a paying member!
Instead of piling up here several complaints similar to mine, Spotify should immediately fix it!
Sara
I have tried all the things that say on the troubleshooting page, several times in fact and it still does not work. And i must agree with sara that this quite frustrating since i'm paying for this 😞 so i hope they will fix it soon or im going to have to degrade my account to unlimited intead since premiun isnt really worth it without the phone 😞
Couldn't agree more, I'm going on a road trip this evening and am now having to accept the fact that I WON'T be getting to listen to any of my music on the trip. The kicker? My Spotify membership charged yesterday....The day I updated.....UGH!
HI guys, thanks for getting in touch.
Mind giving us a bit more detail about what's happening? Are you getting a white screen at all?
Okay i will try to be more detailed about what happends to my phone. So, at first it worked and i could listen to a song but whenever the screen would turn to black (you know, the song was playing but the screen was black, i hope u understand what i mean hehe) and then whenever i would try to turn my phone on again to maybe change song the screen would just remain black no matter how many times i would click on the "power button". So i would click on the home button, go to the program "handler" (not sure what its called) and force shut spotify and it would work. Then i would go and clear chache and that thing and it would magically work again however, after about 2 minutes of playing a song the same thing with the black screen would happend again 😞
Its kind of like everytime my phone collects any kind of chache spotify just dies 😛 and this is ever since the new update since everything was working fine before that :_(
Hi
when I click the Spotify icon a completely white screen opens, no text, no nothing.
How soon do you intend to fix this? For the moment my Spotify (paid for) is impossible to use.
Which as I already wrote, I find being totally unaccaptable.
Regards, Sara
This sounds like the same bug as in the other two similar threads. Please go to http://m.spotify.com in your android browser and install the version you'll find there. If it works, you'll need to change your settings in Google Play so it doesn't get updated for now.
Hi Joe
I do appreciate ypu're trying to help.
Unfortunately I'm not skilled enough doing what you suggest. Are you proposing to download an OLDER version? Doesn't sound too tempting... In my world this serious problem is caused by Spotify and therefore it's up to them to fix it. SOON!
Sara
Hi Sara. The latest update seems to be causing problems for folk running older android versions. Spotify are working on a fix but reverting to a previous version seems to be an interim work-around. So yes you have two choices I guess - download the version I pointed you to from the spotify mobile site or wait for a fix.
The download process is really straightforward and you can ask for help if you get stuck.
Hi again
my Android version is 2.3.5
Is that an old one ?
So I am to open the website of Spotify in the browser on my smartphone, is that correct?
And then what?
I do appreciate your help !
Sara
Btw, what happens to my saved lists if I download an older version of Spotify - if this is what you are suggesting?
Hi again. Yes, the trouble is with android verion 2.x
So yes go to http://m.spotify.com with your browser and you should see a message inviting you to install the spotify application. Tap this link and let it do it's magic.
Once you're happy that spotify works, open the google play app and change the settings to prevent automatic auto-updating. You can make this global or specific to the spotify app.
All your existing content will be unaffected 🙂
wow, this sounds too good to .... ;))
A dont have any auto updates, prefer to decide when notified.
I'll do as you suggest, do I first of all have to UNinstall my Spotify?
Nope
I'm curious to know if everything went OK with the installation 🙂
