New Spotify share links dont open in the Android app

New Spotify share links dont open in the Android app

New Spotify sharing links (https://spotify.link/) do not open in the Android app. Clicking on the link in messenger (say, Whatsapp) opens the app, the app blinks then, the start page opens, but not the song from the link, in the play bar is still the previously palyed song.

Hello @_sall_

I need to know whether you're on a premium plan or not because it could affect your landing page when you click on the link.

For instance, clicking on it as a premium user usually starts playing the song automatically.

Now, this can't be done on a free plan because there's a limited number of skips.

Other than that, I'd recommend logging out of your account, restarting your device and logging back in.

Removing the SD card has also been shown to help.

Good luck 😄

This is independent on plan or other things not related to the links, because older link (with the scheme open.spotify.com/track/) work fine as expected - the track starts playing.

Hello once again @_sall_

The next step would be to log in on a different mobile device with your account to see if the issue is device related or account related.

I'm still able to click on links and have the song start playing.

Did you try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in my previous reply?

The solution could be there.

Things like clearing cache can be helpful actually and it's possible that between now and the last time it worked, too much cache has accumulated.

I look forward to hearing from you.
