New Update Ruins Chromebook Android App - Must have premium to play?

New Update Ruins Chromebook Android App - Must have premium to play?

My Question or Issue

The new Spotify update requires me to have premium to play the android app without shuffle play, when this was never the case previously and I was able to play any song I wanted whenever on Chromebook. I use the android app on Chromebook because I find it a lot easier, but ever since this update I have tried using the web player. The web player is awful; if I scroll through my songs it gets glitchier and glitchier. The song names/artist names don't load properly and I can't see what songs are in my playlist. Please change the android app back for Chromebook users!

Hey,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the issue. Chromebook devices are considered mobile devices (as their apps are provided from the Google Play Store) and Spotify doesn't provide direct music playback on the free plan. Though the web player is considered a computer device and is allowed to play directly.

If you want such feature to be available on your Chromebook device, I suggest you submit a feature request from the community describing your request briefly.

Cheers,
/A
