No display on VW Golf infotainment System - Android 7.0

No display on VW Golf infotainment System - Android 7.0

Hi all
I recently noticed on my display unit in my VW Golf MK VII that the track information is not displayed. Along with this, the next and previous track functions were not available meaning I would have to control the music I listen too via the app. As you can imagine, this is not safe. I want to know if anyone else has had this problem and what a fix maybe. I have a feeling it maybe the car but I don't know.

If you need more information I'm happy to provide it.

Hi,

I have got the same problem.
It used to work just fine. Now the arrows for changing titles are just grey and won't work anymore.
It would be great if someone could help here. I am driving a lot and listen to Spotify as soon as I get in the car.
Switching titles on the phone is really annoying.

Thanks
CW

Same thing happened to me on my 2016 Mazda CX-3 - was working fine 2 weeks ago, now I've lost display and can't navigate through tracks using buttons on steering wheel.

I'm on Android 7.1.1, was on Spotify 7.9, but just saw an update come through for the Spotify client on my Google Pixel phone, am now on 8.0.0.805armV7. Will check shortly to see if that made any difference!

Ok, a combination of upgrading to the latest version of Spotify earlier today and rebooting my phone resulted in in this success:

I have exactly the same problem with my 2014 (mk7) VW Golf.  I have a Sony Experia Z5 Compact.

In my case, I'm confident it's not the car.  I drove to work one morning happily changing tracks using the steering wheel controls.  That day, I got a prompt to update from Andorid 6 to Android 7.  I said yes (I should know better).  That evening on my drive home I had no track listings on the display, nor could I use the steering wheel controls.

Basically, for me, the upgrade to Android 7 obviously broke it.

The ususal Google searching hasn't yielded much at all, so it's nice to know it's not just me struggling.

I've tried upgrading Spotify, I've tried re-installing Spotify, I've even tried a full factory reset of my phone.  None of this has helped and I've run out of ideas.

Spotfy accounts for most of what I do with my phone, and a lot of that is in my car, so I'm really hoping this is fixed soon.

I've had to reboot my phone twice since I first reported a successful result in my Mazda CX-3 after upgrading to the latest version of Spotify (I'm on Android 7.1.1).

It seems that track information may stop displaying for some unknown reason - but I'm able to successfully get track information back after I reboot my phone and re-connect via Bluetooth.

Here's hoping an Android upgrade works for you in the near future! (I'm using a Google Pixel, which in theory is supposed to get the most recent Android updates first.)

My exact problem with VW CC.  Everything was fine until I updated to Android 7.11. No song info displayed and no steering wheel controls. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Incidently, my $25 bluetooth headphone controls are fine.

I was forced to go back to Android 6 to get functionality back, pretty upset with this.

This happened to me with my 2012 golf. Played around by going into andriod settings - Spotify, and then switching 'phone' permissions on. Didn't even have to restart it the titles and controls were visible and could change tracks and volume from the touchscreen and steering wheel now

Since yesterday (Spotify 8.5.43.724 update 29 jan 20, Android 10, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S on MIUI 11) the problem seems solved
