No space left on device bug

No space left on device bug

I recently bought an SD card for my mobile to store music in and I can't seem to download more than a handful of albums.

I tried uninstalling the app, removing the com.spotify.music folder, deleting the app's data, but although I have a lot of free space on my SD card, the app keeps refusing to download new music on the SD card.

If this helps, I noticed that every time I reinstall the app, the com.spotify.music folder gets rewritten on both the internal storage and my SD card and it seems that there's no way around this.

Thanks for your help.

Forgive me if too obvious. Under Settings/Storage do u see the option to save sd card. If you do and it us not greyed out, is it ticked? Also what does it say for currently using and available?

Your next step will be to see if Spotify has permission to the SD card. What Android and Spotify versions please?

Yes, Spotify is writing on the SD card and the SD option is indeed ticked (once you delete the com.spotify.music folder the other option is not even there any more) but it seems that there is some internal variable that still points to the internal storage.

Reading another thread I managed to find a workaround to this bug. Killing the Spotify app and then restarting it somehow resets this counter so that it downloads some more albums until again it thinks there's no more space left on the device. Not really ideal, but at least I didn't buy a Premium subscription for nothing.

Fwiw on my phone I never delete the device folder after a reinstall. In fact I think it's possible that if you delete it, that might in fact be what's going wrong. Any subsequent Spotify update will both recreate that folder and start to use it. Would you please consider going through the reinstall steps again only this time do not delete anything after reinstall, instead simply select sd card and see what happens?
