My HiFi Receiver Yamaha RX-V683 is connected to my WiFi network and can be accessed with the Controller App, Yamaha MusicCast and Webinterface from my phone. However, Spotify doesn't connect from phone anymore.

It once worked, but stopped doing so a few month ago. Spotify still streams from my wife's iPhone (!?!!!), which is why I assume it's either my phone (Android Pixel 6a, Android 14) or the Spotify App.

I had Spotify check for devices for 30min, nothing. Bluetooth streaming works fine with MusicCast. All Apps and Device are up to date. Settings seem to be in order (all permissions given etc.).

I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help out, where or what to check?

I've installed MusicCast and Spotify on another Android (Samsung A52, fully updated), connected to my Spotify (Premium) Account. Won't connect to the receiver, but weirdly to each other. The android phones even "see" each other if one phone is connected to the Guest WiFi.

Guest WiFi and Main WiFi can each see all connected devices, but obviously not devices connected to the other WiFi.

Device: RX-V683, System Version 2.87 (1923), API Version 2.08, connected to WiFi and fully accessable through Webinterface, AV Controller and MusicCast App.

Apps: Spotify Premium Version 8.9.40.509 com.spotify.music MusicCast Version 5.70 com.yamaha.av.musiccastcontroller Yamaha AV Controller Version 5.60 com.yamaha.av.avcontroller

Hi there @MrBzz2b,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

First up, thanks so much for the detailed info and great troubleshooting so far.

You mentioned this happens on two Android devices with your account, so we could check if it's account-related. Could you try logging in with a different account on your device and check if that makes a difference? You could give it a try with your wife's account. You can also try logging in with your account from your wife's phone (the one you mentioned that works) and check if you have the same issue there.

On another note, could you check if the firmware of your receiver has any pending updates?

Let us know how that goes.

I reset Spotify on my phone and quickly set up a new account. Didn't work. The iPhone from my wife is not connected to the premium account, btw.

I'll check with more phones and let you know.

Doesn't work with the iPhone anymore. I assume it's Spotify related >:|

Hey there @MrBzz2b

Thanks for your reply.

Could you check if the firmware of your receiver has any pending updates?

Also, could you try to connect Spotify and the receiver through a different network, e.g. a hotspot on your phone to see if that makes any difference?

I'm seeing the same problem - Spotify connect was working swimmingly up until a week or so ago. Then at first , it couldn't connect to the device, and now it can't see it at all.

I have tried several devices now with the same issue - pixel6a, iphone, Android tablet. My a/v receiver is Onkyo.

My Question or Issue

Hi everybody !

I used to use Spotify app to listen to music on my Yamaha MusicCast R-N602.

Normally from the application, I have access to Spotify, then the Spotify application takes over. I can then choose my music and listen to it on my hi-fi system.

Since I changed my phone (and app update). The Spotify application is launched from the Yamaha Musiccast app. However, once on Spotify, it is no longer possible to use the application to listen to music.

What should be done to resolve the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Adrien

Y'all, works again. After trying all suggested solutions and nothing worked (all devices were updated, checked different wifi and phones, reset Spotify and receiver), I accepted my fate and used Bluetooth grudgingly.

I just realized my receiver shows up again in Spotify, so maybe someone fixed it.

Thanks to those unknown heroes! Check it it yourself!11

Oh interesting - can you tell us what phone / app version you're using? My receiver is still not showing up in the 'spotify connect' list. I have looked at apps on multiple platforms now, but mainly android.

All are at standard settings, except naming and WiFi credentials all Apps and device are at factory settings. I can answer questions and provide further details about settings and stuff if needed.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the replies.

@MrBzz2b good to hear you were able to sort this out and thank you for sharing your settings and what devices you are using.

We can also add a few more steps in case the issue persists, try editing your receiver's network settings by disabling DHCP and altering the DNS to one of the public DNS' listed below:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
9.9.9.9
1.1.1.1

Something else you can try is changing the WiFi frequency to 2.4 or 5 gHz to see if that does the trick. In case you don't see these options in your receiver app, you can try it in your router instead.

Let us know how it goes.
