If you're offline (either by setting it through the app, or by not being connected to the internet by wifi or cellular data), and you haven't downloaded the song yet, it'll show as unavailable or a light gray in the mobile version. If you switch back to online mode, or connect to a wifi network/turn on data, you can download the song through wifi (or on data Settings > Streaming Qual. > Download Using Cellular) and the song should be ready to play if you go offline again.
