Notification Controls can't be swiped away or closed

My Question or Issue

Recently, I have been unable to swipe away the Spotify controls notification once I'm done listening. It'll just move over to show the notifications options button. The only way to get rid of the controls notification is to close the app or let Android put the app to sleep after 10-30 mins. This is very annoying as with the Android 11 update, I can only see one notification on my lock screen at a time, and Spotify always takes priority, even if I'm not listening to anything. I have to unlock my phone, scroll over on the multitasking menu, and close the app to dismiss the notification.

Every music app I use either lets me swipe away the controls notification, or gives me the option to close it from the notification. I feel like this must be a bug, but can't resolve the issue or find anyone else with the problem. I've tried deleting cache/data, uninstalling and reinstalling, changing various notification options, but nothing helps.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you provide us your device and make sure you're having the latest OS?

Clean install seemed to do the trick. Thank you

Problem came back, clean install was only a temporary reprieve from the issue.

I'm having this issue as well, but on Android 12. I can swipe the mini player in the notification bar away, but it just comes back after I unlock my phone. Even closing the app via multitasking screen does not get rid of it.

Hopefully this isn't considered a "feature", I'd consider this a very annoying bug.

Even after a full uninstall, the notification is still there. Swipe it, it goes away. Open the notification screen,  it is back. Nothing helps.

Go into settings, sound, then into media and uncheck the top settings. Android has a setting in there that makes media playback pin itself to the notification shade. Soon as you disable it the controls will disappear if nothing is playing or if Spotify is closed. There is no bug.

I don't have Media under Settings/sounds path.  This was a suggestion made previously by a mod, and was debunked then because not every Android has that settings category

My Question or Issue

After opening and using Spotify, the notifications panel will show a media control notification that lets you play, pause, see the current songs album and info. This is desired functionality.

However, when I stop playing music and dismiss the notification, the notification will randomly return even if I never play Spotify again. I can not use Spotify for over 2 week( 17 days) and that notification will still pop up. I can reboot my phone, Spotify will try to put the notification back. I can force terminate Spotify, and somehow Spotify revives itself on Android and puts the notification back. And it's not a small notification either and when I lock my phone, it expands to a big panel. I like it when I play music, I don't like it harassing me everytime I look at my phone when I'm not.

I've tried reinstalling too. **bleep**, I think I remember the issue being present on my previous Samsung S9 as well.

I have the same problem. Spotify shows up on my notification "shade" and sticks there. Just for kicks and grins I touched and held the player  notification on the shade as though I was moving or removing a widget off my home screen. It gave me the option of removing the player from my shade. The player disappeared. I'm not sure if it will return or not, but I didn't have to force stop Spotify, or go into the app at all. Unfortunately, I did not try this with my lock screen.

This issue has come back for me in the latest version after been fixed previously a while back. Unbelievable it has re-emerged. Please investigate and kindly resolve once and for all.
