Playback stops when phone moves from offline to online - Android Galaxy Note 4

When I transition from offline to online playback stops.  This is instantly infuriating and the single thing a music playback application should never do.  This has been happening for more than 18 months.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Spend $10 a month for offline playback
   
2. Ride the New York subway and start playing offline music
3. Exit the subway, within a few minutes music just stops

What steps you’ve tried already:

- tweeted @spotify and had irritating and useless conversations with @spotifycares (try this, try that, uninstall, reinstall, sync, unsync, blah, give up, worthless, know nothing, do nothing, first line support)

Device and operating system:
- Galaxy Note 4
- Model number: SM-N910T
- Android version: 4.4.4

Type of Spotify account you have: Premium

The app version of Spotify you’re using: 5.8.0.1029 armV7

Note: Typically I start playing music once in the subway.  My phone is NOT in airplane mode.  My suspicion is that there's some crappy code that handles the offline to online transition and it's too stupid to do the right thing and just starts over.

I seem to recall my Note 3 doing similar stuff - also when it detected new wifi access points when I was running android kitkat. Any particular reason why you haven't updated your android version to 5 or 6 (I seem to recall the issue went away with android 5). 

Does this happen when you put spotify into offline mode?

Can you reproduce by going into airplane mode then back out of it?

I suspect that updating your OS will sort things.
