Playing spotify in-car on a Samsung Galaxy S3

Playing spotify in-car on a Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I have been a spotfiy user for quite a while and had it on my iPhone 3gs playing via an aux cable through my cars speaker system.

However, when I plug the same cable in to my Galaxy S3 I am not hearing anything from my in-car speakers?  A bit strange and very frustrating today when I thought I was going to be listening to spotify on a journey.

Thanks for reading and I'd appreciate if you could help.

Cheers.

Hi there,

Does it definitely work when you listen through headphones? (I'm guessing your aux cable plugs into the headphone socket on your phone?)

If you get no output on the headphone socket, yet the song looks like it is playing, try restarting your phone - this seems to solve this problem a lot of the time

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply.

Unfortunately there seems to be some issue with Spotify as I turned the S3 off and on again as you stated and when I tried to play some of my playlists nothing was happening........then suddenly it started playing and cutting off again.  When I disconnected the cable in-car the same thing was happening via headphones and internal speaker.

I am currently getting the latest update so hopefully I can get it sorted as I loved Spotify via my car speakers and was one of the main reasons why I went premium - its a miss when it doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Another example of my problem is I played Ben Howard "only love" - actually played first time.  Went to my next track "the fear" went to 7secs of silence then went back to the start.........then cut in and started playing.  Went back to "only love" - silence........went back to the start again and it is now playing!!

You just explained a common fault with the app.

I don't know what causes it, and I don't think there is a way to permanently fix it.

Are you streaming? Your description sounds like buffering issues. Does the same happen if you play something already syncd?

I'm now syncing up but its very strange because it all seems to work OK on my wifes Samsung Galaxy Plus........but my S3 has these issues with Spotify.  I'm gutted to hear it is a common fault, and thought as much when I've been having a look online.  It worked flawlessly on my old 3gs but now although I absolutely love my new android phone there is now this issue with Spotify.

Is there no way that Spotify support would be looking to resolve this, as it is relatively common?  With android getting more and more popular and with the likes of the S3 being such an impressive phone it would be in everyones best interest to have spotify work as well on this platform as it does on apple.

Thanks for the replies and I know you guys can't do anything if there is no fix.  I'm just really disappointed that I'm having these issues.

Oh and one other thing Smiley Sad  sync'ing takes absolutely aggggeeess compared to what it was like on the iphone!! Smiley Frustrated

It looks like I may just have to downgrade my spotify account as I won't get my main benefit now.......I'm really brassed that I'll have to do this because I love spotify Smiley Indifferent

Back again - I turned everything inc., my wireless and PC off and on again and things seem to be working a lot better!!  Don't know what the hell is going on but I'm starting to grin a bit as the sync'ing is going much faster now and playback seems to be fine on the phone...........I'll not start cheering yet but it looks like everything may be OK!! Smiley Very Happy

Hi there,

yes, Spotify are looking into the issue that liamwli mentioned. However, sounds like yours was different - glad you have it working now ... leave it syncing up overnight and you're done 🙂

I have premium and love spotify through wifi devices/bluetooth used in the home, but it seriously wont play in my car via my Samsung Galaxy 3.  Ive tried wireless and plugging in the usb/blooth tooth device from phone to car  - its paired fine but it wont work at all.  Really fed up.  I know its a spotify problem as my phone has paired ok with car and I can make phone calls!

Hi!

Does Your car bluetooth support A2DP profile for media player?

Can You play music from an application other than Spotify?

Camillo

Ill dig out my car manual and see if theres anything there...
