Playlist folders in Android are not fully populated

Playlist folders in Android are not fully populated

My Question or Issue

Many of my playlists are organized into folders. On the Web Player and Desktop apps (Windows, Linux), the playlist/folder organization appears as I would like it to be. However, some folders in the Android app are not populated with the desired playlists—they are either partially or fully empty, and the playlists which should be in the folders are just listed in the top-level Library view.

I believe this started to occur after I did some big-time reorganization through the Web Player's interface. I have tried logging out of the Spotify app and logging back in, to no success. Changing the Playlists Filter setting away and back to "Custom Order" has no effect. I haven't yet done a full reinstall because I hope to not have to redownload all of my currently-downloaded songs.

This bug seems closely-related to this one, but I hope it's OK to be making a new post, as the OP in the last one seems MIA.

Hey there @covegeary,

Thanks for reaching out to us. No worries, help is on the way.

The behavior you're experiencing points to issues with your account syncing to the servers. We recommend that you log out, restart your device and then log back in. This is an often overlooked, but very effective step.

If that doesn't do the trick, the root cause of the issue might be corrupted app files. We understand how this might cause some frustration, but in this case the best solution would indeed be a clean reinstall via these steps. Also, if you're using an SD card, make sure it's not formatted as "Internal" memory since formatting an SD Card to be used as Internal memory (called "Adoptable Storage") creates issues with the Spotify cache and downloads.

Hope you find this useful. Let us know how you get on.
