Podcast automatically starts playing each time I get in the car

Podcast automatically starts playing each time I get in the car

Before cancelling my Spotify account can someone please advise how I can stop these awful podcasts from automatically playing each time I get in mu car. Thanks

Hey @Gerrymc, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

You can try a clean reinstall of the app to see if that makes a difference when you get in the car. If you're still having trouble, can you let me know if this happens every time you get in the car - or does it happen under certain circumstances?

Once I get more info, I'll see what to suggest.

Many thanks Billy J for your prompt response.  It happens each and every time in the car.  The problem with reinstalling as you suggest is that I would have to re download all the music I have stored.  Though it may have to come to that if I decide to stay with Spotify

Thanks for the reply. 

 

Clean reinstalls have been shown to be able to resolve many issues by clearing corrupted cache and other data issues with the app, so whenever possible please perform the steps as @Billy-J suggested. 

 

If after doing so the issue persists, please let us know the following:

  • Which podcast starts playing?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Does it happen with any device you connect with the car or only with specific ones?

Thanks Joan fir your reply and suggestions to reinstall.   My problem  with this suggestion is that it does not address my question re  - do I have to download everything again that i have in the library?   Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Everything you have will stay in your library, that much remains unchanged. You will not lose any playlists, liked songs, followed artists, followed podcasts, etc. What will be necessary is to download any content you have saved for offline listening again as the cache where those are stored will be wiped as part of the troubleshooting process. Still though, as previously mentioned, a clean reinstall is known to resolve a multitude of issues, so it's definitely worth a shot.
