Podcast stops when lose service even when downloaded.

My Question or Issue

Joe Rogan is pretty much the only thing I listen to on my weekend commute of 3 hours each way. The old app I used I would simply download his podcast and then listen to it. 

Now I download his podcast and everything is fine until I lose service. Why? If I go to download again it asks me if I want to delete so I know it's downloaded, this has happened everytime regardless of what podcast it is. My guess is because I'm downloading the audio but the video still wants to play. Why is there no option for audio only for podcasts? And if there is can you tell me where?
