Popping sound when streaming SPOTIFY on the Google Nest Speakers

There is a random "popping" / "crackling" sound that occurs when streaming SPOTIFY on the Google Nest Speakers. This ruins the whole music listening experience!

Is Spotify aware of this? Is it a Spotify or Google problem?

Hi @marcolopespt,

Thanks for reaching out. After some research, it seems a lot of users are facing this issue and it's related to some sort of ultrasound sensing feature. Check out this article from Google and try deactivating that.

No!!! It has nothing to do with the ultrasound sensing!!

I have tested that possible solution myself, to no avail!

Other users face the same problem.

The worst part is that the POPPING volume is very high, regardless of the music volume, making the musical experience with Spotify terrible (specially when we use the device to play soft music to sleep)

Thanks for the reply. It seems this is something on Google's end and the thread you sent shows that Google are aware of this and are investigating it on their side. We suggest you keep an eye on that thread for any updates on the matter, we will do the same. If some similar behaviour persists after they declare the issue as fixed, we'll look further into it on our side to see what might be happening.

Thanks for the reply! The problem is that Google is "aware" of this for over 3 YEARS now... and Spotify users are being constantly undermined with this annoying bug for too long.

The objective of my post was to see if Spotify could reach out to Google and investigate this together, otherwise, i don't believe that google will do something about it...

This is very prejudicial to Spotify...

Yes... specially at night with low volumes... (because the popping noise it's usually LOUD)

It ruins the whole musical experience, and even wakes me up!

I just bought a new Nest Audio speaker and the first time I streamed Spotify to the speaker I got crackling and popping.

I recorded the speaker output, we can clearly hear the problem: Nest Audio Crakling.m4a

This is happening only with the Nest Audio as far as I know, I've never heard this before on any other device.

I’m also getting this. When I connect to my speak through the Spotify app my Nest Audio makes sometimes a crackling noise and then randomly throughout the songs it will occasionally make a popping/cracking sound. Really annoying.

Yes... The Google Nest ecosystem is plagued with thig SEVERE problem... for YEARS...

No FIX...

What puzzles me is many users started to notice this only recently (few months)

Others, have it for longer...

The reports go back 3 years...

Same issue on all my brand new Nest Audio speakers. Contacted Google support but haven't heard back yet.

I've been in contact with Google support since day 1 (months ago when i bought all my devices) and the support was a completely waste of time!!

They say nothing, know nothing, give ZERO feedback from the core team (that google is reducing btw...)

They simply don't care about this problem. I think you will have to return the device, ask for a refund and buy one from a different brand.

I will do that sometime along the way.

I have 3 YEARS warranty... plenty of time to return them under warranty, but i will not do so UNTIL there is some official statement about what's causing this problem, and if it's fixable or NOT!

An UPDATE to say that this problem is NOT Spotify's fault...

The GOOGLE HOME devices POP when streaming anything... except when you ask to play "relaxing sounds" (i believe they are stored locally and repeated in loop!)

The device POPS when:

- Streaming Spotify

- Streaming YouTube Music

- Streaming the NEWS!

- Streaming the ASSISTANT ANSWERS! (YES!!! IT popped when answering me!!)

This has been fixed many months ago, thanks to INSISTENT feedback on the Google Community from a great group of users!!!

Don't even "joke" about this problem coming back!!!!

I would throw the devices in the trash!!!

This was FIXED and never came back again!

NOTE: I use 3 Google Nest devices EVERYDAY. with MUSIC playing constantly.
