My Question or Issue
There is no slider on the progress bar while I am listening to a song to adjust the time, I just have to listen to the song from start to finish. This problem only occurs on this device, I've tried restarting, uninstalling.

Hey there @31x63kfvr5qor52dpiew,
Thanks for your reply.
We can confirm that this is currently expected behavior with the free version on mobile.
Since the free tier on mobile has some playback limitations, such as selecting a specific song or listening in a desired order, moving the slider to choose a part of a track is also not currently available for created playlists or albums. However, it's still available in selected playlists created for you, like the Daily Mix or some podcasts as well.
Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Hey @user-removed,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
Kudos for taking initiative and trying some troubleshooting steps. Just to confirm, have you followed the steps under Clean reinstall on this page? Also, please make sure that the Spotify app is set as an exception in any battery or memory optimizing services on your phone.
Keep us posted.
Same problem here , please tell how to fix.
I did a quick reinstall, rebooted my device, checked my device requirements and even did a clean reinstall but nothing seems to be working. I can see to slider but trying to slide it does nothing. The song just plays and the progress bar just keeps moving. I can't slide it in any direction. It isn't happening on the devices of anyone else that I know

My Question or Issue
I can't move the seek slider. It moves while the song is playing but trying to move it forward or backward does nothing. I've tried a quick reinstall, rebooted my device, checked requirements and even performed a clean reinstall but it's still the same. And the app is set as an exception in my battery saving seeing.
This however works fine when I'm playing on my desktop and controlling on my phone. I can move the slider on my phone when the song is playing through the desktop app. It stops working when I go back to playing on my phone.
Also, touching a line from the lyrics doesn't skip the song to that line's position.
This has been really frustrating. Someone please help me fix this
Hey there folks,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
@prajwalksagar, have you tried the recommendations given in our last post? If so, make sure both your OS and Spotify app are up-to-date. You can check out this article to know how to update the Spotify app on your device.
@Pr_95, make sure that the Spotify app is set as an exception in any battery or memory optimizing services in your device's settings. Also, you mention seeing the progress bar; take into account that if you have a free account, that is expected behaviour on mobile devices. In order to rewind or fast-forward a song from mobile devices, you need to have Premium.
Lastly, if possible, check if you have the same issue with the Web Player or a different device. If none of the recommendations help, send over your device model and OS version, along with the Spotify version you're running.
We'll be on the lookout!
Hey @Pr_95,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
Great troubleshooting so far; we can add a few more steps to make sure we've covered all the bases. In this case, check if your device has an SD card inserted, as it could affect the proper behavior of the app. If so, remove it, restart your device, and try again.
Also, if the issue persists, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has permission for anyone to watch it).
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running, to continue investigating the case.
Hope this helps. We'll be on the lookout.
I too have this exact same issue. I'm using ROG 5s, Android13 OS.
An update: After an entire day of testing and talking to Spotify support, I was told that Spotify is testing the performance of some features and my account was, idk, chosen for the test I guess. The disappointing part is that there is nothing anyone can do to fix it in my case. It might work properly again but there's no telling if or when. Apparently, it will go back to working just fine if I upgrade to premium but I haven't tried.
I don't know if the problem is the same in your case. You can try a few things to fix it like a quick reinstall and a clean reinstall. Also, I'm able to move the slider just fine if I listen through my phone's web browser and when I'm listening on the laptop because apparently the desktop app and browser players are unaffected by this. So you can test that to see if our issues match or not.
Try contacting Spotify. You chat with a support agent to try and fix it.

I hope you can fix it!!
hi, i tried reinstalling and even restarted my device and followed the safe reinstall intructions. spotify and OS is up to date. even checked that spotify isn’t added in any of battery or memory optimising services and yet, the progress bar still ain’t moving. solve this problem ASAP please.
Thanks for the reply and all the troubleshooting tried so far.
Could you share a short screen recording to see what is going on on your end?
Are you using Connect? Does the same happen with a different device or a different account?
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
screen recording of what exactly? and what is Connect? it doesn’t happen on another device, i don’t know about another account. logging in and out is too much hassle like sorry but i shouldn’t have to do all that🤷♀️ i want MY account to work i have so many of my playlists and liked songs on it.
Thanks for your reply.
In this case, we'd like to add some insights. Some of the suggested steps above will help us understand what's exactly happening on your side. Trying to log in on a different account will help us identify if this is account-related. So, if possible, it'll help us a lot if you could open a different account on the affected device. You can ask for the account of a relative or friend to be opened on your device and checked.
On another note, it'll help us as well if you send a video recording of the behavior you kindly mentioned above, so we can visualize it better. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public so we can visualize it.
Lastly, Connect is the feature that allows you to use one device to remotely control listening on another. Just to clarify, were you controlling the playback from your device? Please send us the make/model and OS of the affected device, along with the Spotify version you're running there.
Keep us in the loop!
So i logged in from another account and the progress bar works now. it works on this account but not on my old account. i want it work on that account too. the progress bar just doesn’t move there’s nothing to screen record about that. my spotify version is 8.8.44.458 and i use Iphone 8. and no i wasn’t controlling playback from my device
Thanks for the reply.
Just to make sure, are you using an account with a Premium subscription, your old account, or a free account?
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
its a free account.
