Question about offline playlists.

Question about offline playlists.

Does the playlist get downloaded AGAIN to the phone? Or does Spotify copy tracks over wifi network?

Hi there,

If I understand your question correctly ... If you set a playlist to offline and it contains songs from the Spotify catalogue then I don't know for sure - would like to think it copies them over wifi but wouldn't be surprised if it downloads them again ... to some extent it depends on the quality setting you have selected on the phone - if different from the desktop then it will have to download again as they would be different files

I was thinking that too, what is the quality of the music on the desktop? I mean the offline playlists? Extreme or High?

I do not want it to download stuff again, am on a capped connection, would prefer not to waste bandwidth.

For offline playlists on desktop I'm guessing Extreme. For streamed stuff there's an option in Preferences

If you're on a capped ADSL connection then be very careful when running Spotify even on the desktop. Spotify uses P2P to distribute data - this means that even when you are not streaming or downloaded playlists the software will potentially be uploading to other users

Sigh, why can't they make this stuff clear? And can't they provide options to turn off P2P?

I think Ill have to make a new thread in the Desktop forums.

Can we get a staff member to verify if the extreme files are copied over Wifi?
