Random pausing with some volume changes.

Solved!

Random pausing with some volume changes.

Hi all,

My Spotify has randomly started to pause my music after approx 10 seconds. Sometimes this is accompanied by the volume decreasing then increasing prior to the pause. As you can imagine this is very annoying as I spend a lot of time listening to Spotify.

I have restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app but the problem persists.

I have never had this issue and have no idea what has caused it as I have not done any updates etc.

I have a Samsung S6 Edge and Spotify premium with everything up to date.

Cheers for any help

Rob

Hey Rob,

I was looking through the community and found a post about music constantly stopping on a Samsung Galaxy S7, which is fairly similar to your issue. It seems that the problem is likely being caused by a power saving mode or app. Make sure that your power saving mode is turned off and try uninstalling any power saving apps you may be using.

There are a few other solutions listed in this post, hopefully one of these can resolve your issue!

Hey Rob,

I'm sorry to hear that the issue has returned.

Given the fact that the issue is occurring on more than just the Spotify app, the issue is most likely due to your phone and not Spotify. I would recommend contacting Samsung and seeing what help they can provide. I'm expecting they're probably going to have you do a factory data reset to eliminate the issue. Let me know how it goes!

Hey,

I've done some research into this and I have found two possible solutions. First, make sure that your operating system (Android) is up to date.

  1. Click on apps
  2. Click settings
  3. Click about device
  4. Click software update
  5. Select update now

Secondly, try logging out of all devices, this has solved the issue for some people.

You can do this by:

  1. Go to your account page.
  2. Click SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE.

Hope this helps!

Noah,

Thanks for replying.

I tried what you suggested but neither suggestions have rectified the issue.

Cheers

Rob,

Try clearing the Cache of the Spotify app.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.
  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Apps.
  3. Touch the Spotify app.
  4. Touch storage.
  5. Touch CLEAR CACHE.

If that didn't solve the problem, lets try clearing app data.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.
  2. Touch Search, then search for and select Apps.
  3. Touch the Spotify app.
  4. Touch storage.
  5. Touch CLEAR DATA.

Let me know how it goes!

Noah,

Thanks again. Unfortunately neither have fixed the issue.

Cheers

Rob

Also I have just noticed that the same is happening with my podcast app so I am assuming that the problem is with my phone.

But my podcast app only pauses once before continuing without me having to touch it.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

Noah,

Since going to bed for the night and trying Spotify when I woke up the issue seems to have rectified itself.

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.

Sorry to say but my issue has now returned.

It worked fine for half an hour or so before I went to work. But the issue has now returned and is also happening with my podcast app.

I don't have any power saving apps and have power saving switched off.

This issue is really irritating me now as I can't listen to anything for more than 10 seconds.

It also happens regardless of whether my phone screen is locked or unlocked.
