Release Notes - Spotify for Android (0.7.3)

Solved!

Release Notes - Spotify for Android (0.7.3)

Android Release Notes
What's new in version 0.7.3
  • New: Say hello to Spotify Connect. Listen to music on your Connect-enabled speakers, and use your mobile to control the music.
  • Fixed: Lots of bugs and nasty things.
  • Known issues: Images do not load properly on Android 4.4 Kitkat. We're working on it!
Notes
  • We've changed the way we roll out features updates to users, so you might already see a new date, but previous update and/or release notes in the Play Store for a couple days, following a new update still see the previous version and/or release notes in the Play Store for a couple days while, following a new update.
  • As always, if you're having trouble with an update, please always make sure to go through the [Android] Troubleshooting Spotify steps before posting

I just updated the app on my S4 Mini but I just can't figure out how do I activate spotify connect? I can see that there's an empty space to the far right of the bottom bar when I play a song but there's nothing to press. On my Ipad there's the connect icon and I can play it on my speaker but on my S4 Mini I only see the empty spot.

Some advice would be great, thanks!

Strange, for me the Spotify connect button is on the full Now Playing screen (same place as on iPhone). If you tap on the track playing bar at the bottom you should see it?

Same of Peter, maybe the feature is for DLNA, not Airplay speakers/systems?

Same for me, no connect button on my Sony Xperia Acro S with Android 4.1.2

What device are you using? What protocol? I can use with on my Piooner DLNA, not with the Bose Airplay....

Pretty sure also Connect is still in a feature roll out phase (because not everyone has it on iOS yet either), so not everyone will have it yet. Just a matter of waiting!

From what I read Spotify Connect is an own protocol that is only working on selected devices and has nothing to do with DLNA or Airplay.

So someone finally got the update? Can you share the apk or is it against the rules here?

@gas: can be, my Pioneer device is also Spotify connect ready. And work fine

Wait, so even if Spotify Connect works from my iPad it won't work on my android devices?

My Sony CMT-BT80WB has Bluetooth, Airplay, NFC, Wi-Fi and DLNA but the new Spotify Connect feature won't work on Android?

Pf.. to say that this is frustrating is an huge understatement..

Connect isn't about streaming music. It's a way of controlling connect compatible devices. The original announcement was a bit confusing but maybe this FAQ is better at explaining it.

Hello Joe, as you told is not a matter of streaming, but if we have a Speaker that is SpotifyConnect ready (such my Pioneer), we can obtain the same results: playing music on the speaker from the device you are using.

I tried to use it from my android device, and I discovered that the music playing continue also if I turn off my device without stop the SpotifyConnect connection......until I switch to off my speaker....... this is magic 🙂

As you can know, is it  possible to update the link Spotify.apk ? It is a vital source for the Blackberry users (as me) to install the program on their Q10 device.

Thanks

Spotify usually update the .apk once the new version has fully rolled out. I'm still waiting for 0.7.3 😞

Many thanks, Joe.

so we are almost two in the waiting queue 🙂

I wish they would just let me use simple lastfm scrobbler then they wouldn't have this issue. I find that very reliable, especially offline.

Nobody has mentioned the still broken chat feature on the Android app yet. You are unable to read messages or even reply to them.

Whs isn't this addressed?

Bad design bug!!

If I disable scrobbling to last.fm temporarly on your Android app, this delete last.fm settings completely! Than if you add scroble back, this doesn't scrobble, frustarting!! Lost some scrobbles because of this 😞

Would it be possible to add an option to control the desktop version of Spotify with Spotify Connect? I think it would be easy to implement and would remove the need for external programs.

I am sad that I can no longer sort music in my playlists.
