Release Notes - Spotify for Android (1.2.0)

Android Release Notes
What's new in version 1.2.0
  • New: Want to use Spotify Connect on any speakers? Plug a phone or tablet into both a charger and your speakers. Log in to the same Spotify account on another device, and use it as a remote.
  • Fictitious: This was the first app on the moon.

Sorry if I am being slow today, but what is the difference between this connect functionality and what was in the previous version?

I don't understand this feature. Does it make Spotify Connect work on every connect speaker at same time?

It seems like nothing is changed here, since this was already possible for some time now? Maybe it's just the announcement that this is possible?

I think it's a great feature though, it offers great possibilities as I wrote on my blog.

Check out my blog about a cheap way to build yourself a dedicated Spotify Connect Server.

Thank's Spotify!

This feature reverts a previous change, that I had criticized in Version 0.7.8.566 that would not allow you to remote control an android device as long as the display lock was on. (See: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Release-Notes-Spotify-for-Android-0-7-8-566/m-p/720719...

Now this is possible, as long as the phone is connected to an amp and a power cord.

Now the next step to make Connect useful would be to make Volume control possible between mobile devices!

(See: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Control-volume-on-Connect-with-Android/td-p/708435

and also for iOS: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-iOS-iPhone-iPad-iPod-Touch/No-volume-control-on-Spotify-connec...

Yes, and to add Connect to the desktop versions...

Hi everyone, we're rolling out a new version. More info here.
