My Question or Issue

I bought a microSD just to put my Spotify songs on it. It was fine for a week or so, but after restarting, boom, more than 1200 songs have to be downloaded again to the internal memory. Why? Upon searching, I found out that this is a common problem that's been going on since at least 2018. Is there any fix? This seems unacceptable.

Hi there, glad you asked!

I also happen to use a Samsung device running on OneUI (assuming you are using the latest updated Software Version). The issue seems to be with the phone software and not Spotify actually. I suggest you go to the App Info for the Spotify Android App and then go to Battery, then turn off Battery Optimization for Spotify.

There is a possible bug in OneUI which clears the saved data by mistaking it as cache. That is why the Software tries to clear cache but it clears the offline data with it (Android->Data->com.spotify.music). Turning off that option I just told you, will prevent that from happening. Let us know how it goes.

Throw a like my way or mark this as a solution if I helped. ‌😊

Yes, I am on OneUI on the latest software. I will give it a try, and if all else fails, probably stop using Spotify. I'll check back in a week or so! Thanks for the kind reply.

Hi, I have the same problem, did you fix it by battery optimization?
