Rewind/Fast forward with Android Auto

Rewind/Fast forward with Android Auto

Is there a way to fast forward or rewind in Android Auto? I missed part of a song because it was still playing while a text message was read and I tried to rewind it by holding down the previous button. Instead of rewinding, it just went back a few songs.

I don't know why this would be a safety limitation since it's the same steering wheel button as a previous or next. Am I missing something that I couldn't get this to work?

Wish I had Android Auto to be able to try and help, but I don't. What I could suggest is seeing what happens if you try another music app?

Please use the search feature before posting a problem/bug/idea.

It's not available in any music app at the moment. After doing some research, it looks like it has to be added to the app by the developer as separate buttons. Unfortunately, this will also take the place of an icon already on the interface, which is also necessary. Usually a rewind or fast forward is just a long press on the next and previous buttons, but I'm not sure of the complexity and if that's even possible in android auto.

Well, nowadays there are several music players that allow it. For instance: Blackplayer, Podcast Addict, PlayerFM, TuneIn among others.

On TuneIn, for example, it works by holding down the skip buttons.

Please, add this feature, it's a must-have on any music player...

Does it work in Android Auto with all those apps? I know podcasts and radio
players are a bit different.

I haven't seen a music app that allows it.

I don't have Android Auto, and when I replied to your comment I forgot this thread was about Android Auto, lol. Sorry.

If it's any help, I've tried both TuneIn and Podcast Addict when casting to Chromecast and they both allow me to FF/RW when screen's off or running in the background if I use PBMC xposed module for mapping those actions to physical keys (volume keys).  Not all apps allow that, actually, I contacted Podcast Addict's developer 3 days ago and told him I wanted background control of FF/RW for chromecast and he managed to implement it the following day (yes, on Sunday!!)

I really need this function on Spotify when I'm listening to music on my phone.

Ah, no problem.

Please please add this soon.  I listen to long songs (about  8mins each) in long car rides.  Have fast forward buttons on my Jetta's wheel, they don't FF when held down.  Try hold the FF button on my touchscreen?  nothing.  Moving the green seek bar? nothing.

It seems like such an easy feature to impliment, and not being able to use it each day really sucks.
