My Question or Issue
Until this week I have had my downloaded music stored on my SD card but as of Monday (23rd September) this no longer appears as an option. It's using up all the remaining space on my phone's internal storage.
I've ensured the phone is on the latest OS and the Spotify app is up to date.
Has anyone else encountered this?
The attached image shows the lack of SD card storage option.
Yup!
Spotify is really awful at the moment.
Mine does (ocassionally) allow me to use the SD Card - but only after it has forgotten that it should have been using it. Every day Spotify ignores/deletes its downloaded content on the SDCard and starts downloading and filling up my phone memory. It wont let you point it at the SD card until it has finished filling the phone and I'm getting warning messages. It then spends 20 mins transfering everything to the SDcard. Which it then deletes.

I believe the "cure" for your issue is to uninstall spotify/clear the cache/do a fresh installation. Which will then give you access to the SD CARD - but for how long is anyones guess...
Hey Flunk!
I've had this issue ever time the phone was restarted or on the occasional day which ends in 'day'. But it has always shown up with the option to transfer to the SD card but this option hasn't shown up for me over the past two days unfortuanately! I'm struggling to make it do what I want!
So I think the symptoms I've presented are slightly different to this constant re-transfer issue as that option doesn't show for me...
Did you try the last line of my previous post?
"I believe the "cure" for your issue is to uninstall spotify/clear the cache/do a fresh installation. Which will then give you access to the SD CARD - but for how long is anyones guess..."
It might work...
Sorry, I'm not tying to hijack your thread...
I've just found a moderator link for instructions on a fresh install...
Hey there @Owthlitt,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community!
We'd suggest first making sure to enable permission for storage option for Spotify, like in the screenshot @Flunk shared. If you're having troubles, it can be accessed by going to Settings > Apps > Spotify > Permissions > Storage.
Futher, you can perform a thorough reinstallation of the app on your device with the steps in this Spotify Answer that @Flunk also shared 🙂
If these don't do the trick, we'd also suggest checking your SD card for errors - you can find steps to do this from your card's manufacturer.
Keep in mind that this has also been reported to our tech teams and they're looking into it. You can read more info about that in this Ongoing Issue, as well as subscribe, to stay updated on any updates we have to pass on.
Hope this helps clarify things! If there's anything else we can help with, don't hesitate to give us a shout.
Have a lovely day 🙂
