Sd card issue tablet running android 5.1

Solved!

Sd card issue tablet running android 5.1

Hi there,

I have got a tablet CHUWI Hi12 and I just got a 64GB mini sd card from Scandisk and Spotify does not seem to recognize it.  The tablet recognizes the sd card but Spotify won't give me the 'storage' option.

I have tried deleting cache, reinstaling the app, formatting the sd card from both windows and android but nothing seems to sort it out.   Any ideas out there?  Thank you very much in advance.

The device is such a niche product that I'm thinking you'll need to get in touch with CHUWI support to see if they can help but first try this:

  1. Stop Spotify (Settings -> Apps -> Spotify)
  2. Manually create /storage/sdcard1/Android/data
  3. Copy 'com.spotify.music' and all subdirectories from internal storage to '/storage/sdcard1/Android/data'
  4. Open Settings -> Apps -> Spotify then tap 'Clear Data'
  5. Restart Spotify and log back in again
  6. Set Download quality to 'Extreme'
  7. Try downloading a large playlist

Try reinstalling the app. Have you tried another sd card? Just to see if the problem is with the card

I believe you can only use the SD card on this device for Windows or for Android but not both. Did you format it for use by the android OS?

Thanks joa-qo but I couldnt try that because I do not have another sd card, should ask some friends but thats a good call.

I formatted first on windows both full and quick format then when I started android it said that the sd card was empty and it needed to be formatted so as to use it. I formatted it from Android and Android recognises it but Spotify won´t 😞

Hi Joe.

Thanks for answering.

I am stuck at step "Manually create /storage/sdcard1/Android/data" as android wont let me create folders containing slashes.

Kind regards

'That's shorthand for:

Create folder "Android" on the external SD card

then create sub-folder "Data" in the folder "Android"

It worked Joe!  You are amazing and you made my day thank you very much 🙂

Awesome! I'm happy we got it working 🙂
