Selected song in Liked Songs only plays if in first position

My Question or Issue

When I select a song in "Liked Songs" the played song is not the one I selected. The first song of the Liked Songs is played instead. I am not in Shuffle mode.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

It's possible you have the playlist or some songs in the queue ready to start playing. So, we'd recommend you check if there's something in the queue to play next. If yes, first locate the queue by following the steps in this article. Then you can hit the Clear queue button to see if you notice any difference.

Since you mentioned your device is running Android 6.01, we'd suggest you double-check if perhaps it's possible to update it to run out of any issues that might be related to that. As mentioned in this article, Spotify runs on Android OS 7.0 or above.

Lastly, remember you should keep the app up-to-date as well. It seems there's a more recent version of the app available, so, if possible, make sure to download it.

Hi AlejaR, thank you for your answer. Unfortunatly I have no "Clear queue" button on the android App. And the play store doesn't propose me any more recent version (I have the 8.9.86.551 version).

Notice that this trouble only occurs with that particular "Liked Songs" list.

On other playlists, selecting a song among the list, plays the selected song. So it seems that it fully possible to play a selected song among a list on my version of android and with that 8.9.86.551 version of spotify AB.

The only difference I see comparing "Liked Songs" with other playlists, is that my "Liked Songs" has 1649 songs in it.

So, I wonder if playlists have a limit in terms of number of songs in it.

Anyway this bug appeared with the 8.9.86.551 version. I hope it will be understood and corrected soon.

Thank you for keeping in contact. 

We can confirm that at the moment, the Liked songs playlist has no track limit, so you can expand your playlists as much as you want. 

Taking into account that you don't have any available updates, it's possible that this could be related to the Android version of your device. In this case, would you mind checking on a different device with an Android version above 7.0 and the latest version of the app (using your own account) to see if the issue persists there? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out. 

We'll be on the lookout for your next response.

Thank you for your reply. I used my account (my Liked Songs list) on a more recent Android version and on the Soptify 9.00.457. The problem is not present on this version.

So  either the problem was corrected on the 9.00.457 version and the 8.9.86.551 version could be patched taking example on 9.00.457 version, or 8.9.86.551 has not be fully tested on Android 6.01. What is surprising is that this bugs only reveals with Liked Songs : other lists work fine, the previous version did'nt have this bug, and the app as no other bugs. So if you inspire Liked Songs management on other lists management, there is a big chance that this bug will be solved.
