This didn't used to be a problem. If I have my music on shuffle but decide to choose a specific song to listen to, the shuffle function is then cancelled and my music begins playing in order. I couldn't find any settings to change this, so how do I prevent it from happening?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you use the "Shuffle Play" button then touch a song in the playlist/album shuffle will stop as your song selection overrides the "Shuffle Play" button. Another way is to go to the now playing view by selecting the now playing bar at the bottom then turn on shuffle using the crossed arrows icon on the left. Once you have done this, slecting a specific track will not cancel shuffle. Note that this album will always play shuffled until you turn the shuffle function off.

Wrong. Selecting a song turns off shuffle no matter how you started the shuffle.
It's the same with me. I hate it so much. It turnes off every time. I need help too.
I'm having the same issue. I've found that it will only turn off after playing one of my own playlists. If I play an album the shuffle will remain on after selecting a song.
Have same problem. Started after I updated my phone
Same here. Drives me crazy.
Someone needs to unmark this as solved, as the linked solution does not work, this only became an issue for me recently but is really annoying as I don't add music to my play lists just to hear them in the order I chose them, and it's really inconvenient to have to tell it to shuffle again after I pick a track I want to hear!
Also getting this problem, doesn't do this on desktop, only on my android app; surely this cannot be a feature, it did not used to do this
I recently noticed the same problem. I constantly use Spotify at work to make the day go by. One of my favorite features was that if I put on shuffle I can pick and choose a song here and there and it would keep the shuffle option toggled on. Now that doesn't work anymore. I have had weird issues with playback and some other things of this nature. Restarting my phone always fixed this but no longer. It is really annoying having to pick a track and then remember to tick the shuffle button after.
In truth after a lot of testing, I believe the issue is because I have an android phone. I am using a Nexus 6 if it matters. However, the shuffle option works fine on the iPad I recently bought. It also works fine when I am streaming through my PC in Google Chrome. Even better, if I use my phone to control Spotify on my PC the issue is present again. It will shut off shuffle play if I choose a track through my phone. If I use the mouse and keyboard it works just fine. If I control playback on Chrome in my PC with my iPad no issues.
Hopefully, it is only certain users and not all android users. That would suck. Chime in if you have an iOS device that has this issue.
I'm having the same problem but with the Repeat/Repeat One button, It turns off when i change playlist or song amd it has never done that
I've been having the exact same problem and it's been really irritating. This has only cropped up recently, and like others, I have an Android phone. The marked solution also does not work.
Same thing is happening to me as well. I have a Samsung galaxy s7. It's very irritating, especially when I'm driving and want to hear a certain song, but want to keep shuffle on.
Have the same issue. The "solution" is bunks, all he tells us is to do is to push the shuffle button! As if I didn't try that -.-
Completely ignoring the issue mentioned in the title.
Well I hope that they'll fix it...
Does anyone know if it's possible to download a previous version of the app somewhere?
Yeah this is not "solved" at all. I get this problem with playlists but not albums. It started a few updates back. Using android.
I posted about this problem earlier in the thread and I just wanted to let everyone know that it is now fixed for me. I didn't do anything I just started the app today and it the problem we solved. Also on android
Yup, same for me. All of a sudden it was working normally again
