Song stops when phone sleeps with pattern lock - Nexus 6, Android 6 (Marshmallow)

I have a Nexus 6. I noticed this behavior after updating to Android 6.

When a pattern lock is set (I haven't tested pin or password or any of the other types), if I have a song playing on Spotify and let the phone go to sleep, or if I use the power button, the song stops playing after about a second.

This does not happen if I disable the pattern lock.

Spotify Version: 3.9.0.965

Android Version: 6.0

Android Build: MRA58K

I had been on the BETA version of the Spotify app when I first noticed this, and I downgraded to the latest stable release and experienced the same thing.

I know this sounds dumb, but try uninstalling it from your phone and reinstalling the regular version directly from the app store. Playlists are saved to your account so you wont lose anything.

This may have been caused by your downgrade from the beta version.

Oh, no, this was happening on the beta, and that's why I downgraded - to see if it was just a bug introduced in the beta version. The downgrade was done by uninstalling the beta, opting out of that program, and installing the regular version from the play store.
