My Question or Issue

I'm not sure if this is a Google Home (mini, in my case) issue or a Spotify issue but it's driving me insane. For the last 5 or so days, when I ask Google to play a song (through Spotify, which is my default music app), it plays that song twice. I've tried it with all 3 of the minis in my house, with a random handful of songs, and also tried it on the Home minis in my parents' house (which is connected to a totally different Spotify account), and it happens every time. Is anyone else having this issue?

 

I should also add I tested this in the car, using Google Assistant on my phone and Spotify, and it did the same thing.

 

Sure, I can tell Google to skip the song, but it definitely shouldn't be behaving this way.

I replied to another as well...

This is happening to me too. But I think I figured out it isn't Google... it's just when a song is requested directly, instead played within a playlist/album.

No matter how I get the song to play (google assist or manually), the requested song will play, then autoplay creates a station based on that song, where the first song is the same.

If the selected song is chosen from an album or playlist, that album or playlist will continue as normal (without duplication).

We have this problem too. Only started a few weeks ago. Very annoying

I’ve experienced this phenomenon on my computer, a song just playing twice for no particular reason.  It doesn’t happen all the time, or even most of the time.  However, it is weird, and I agree it’s annoying.  Also, it seems to have just started in the last few weeks (or maybe months).

Can you please let us know if you're experiencing this with the songs in your play queue? If so, it's worth mentioning that right now we have an Ongoing issue under investigation. Go ahead and check this thread.  Feel free to leave your details here like your device's model and OS version, along with the Spotify version you're currently running. If you don't know how to check it - go to this FAQ.
 

If the above is not the case, it'd be great if you can share more details about your issue so we can give you a proper advice on how to fix it.
