I also replied this in another topic but since you're also asking for landscape mode here:

Hey guys :smileyhappy:

It's not that hard to solve that. They just need to change the portrait properties in their Android manifest to sensor properties. You used to be able to do this yourself but they blocked that (you can't sign in if the app is modified).

So a temporary solution could be to install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xdevelop.rotator_t and force it into landscape mode. I have an Asus Slider (=same as Transformer but with keyboard not removable) so I keep my device in landscape all the time

I have the same issues with Spotify, and is one reason why I never went past the trial of the premium access. There's no landscape mode on tablets, or at least my Asus Transformer Pad, and that is really a let down. An entire tablet-specific app would be awesome, having landscape mode would be at least functional, and having neither sucks.

i, too, would like to chime in on the chorus of voices asking for a tablet-optimized version of this otherwise great app. i'm on a motorola xoom (wifi/3g) und would love to stream my music via tablet to a squeezebox, but as it is i wouldn't use this version on a tablet, even if you guys PAID me to do so, it's just THAT bad. on a smartphone - no problem, everything's cool, on a tablet - not so much, unusable as it is right now. please, please, please make this a priority for your paying customers. at the VERY least, implement the landscape-rotation. thanks for listening ,-)

To the last knowledge, Spotify is working on the issue to implement the Landscape mode as it was in the previous version (when device was docked), but no timeline has been given. We can only hope that it gets implemented fast to get everyone satisfied.

My problems are gone, since I just bought a 3rd party app that does the landscape thingies as I want and works flawlessly.

Bumping this up to the top; I'm gearing up to buy a Nexus 10, and would kill for a native tablet app.  Show your Premium members some love!

I agree!

Yeah many people wait for a specific tablet app

With pad+doc without landscape it's impossible to use spotify ...

A little thing to fix 🙂

Won't happen

Spotify devs are too busy taking it from Steve Rim Jobs

So does anyone know if you can use it on kindle fire?

I just bought a tablet N101 with the latest Google Android interface and after downloading the Spotify App, it doesn't even show the music I have in my premium playlists, let alone actually play anything - what a load of rubbish??!

Hi Sam. It should work. However they are experiencing service issues at the moment so that could be causing your current problem ... give it a few hours and try again and hopefully that'll solve it

What I don't understand is why you only get radio on the app. Kindle fire can do most things computers can do so why can't I listen to my playlists on the app? Dumb...

Hi sdaunais. Are you in the USA? If so you can listen to spotify radio for free but for streaming or otherwise playing music from the spotify catalogue you need a premium subscription

Yes I'm in the USA. Why do you need a premium subscription for an app but on a computer its free? Doesn't make sense to me.

It's not a technical limitation, it's a licensing limitation.

Mobile operating systems (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, WindowsPhone etc.) have a more expensive license cost per streamed track than desktop operating systems irregardless of if they are connected using WiFi or mobile data, and therefore require a premium subscription. This license cost is set by the record labels. Unless the record labels decide to change this, then things are unlikely to change. This is out of Spotify's hands, all they can do is feed back to the record labels that this is unpopular with users.

Thanks, it picked up the playlist tracks in the end. Anyone else finding though that when left playing it stops/pauses erratically on its own? Not sure if this is the android software for spotify or the tablet itself...... any ideas anyone??

Hi everybody,

still waiting for a tablet UI of spotify as on Ipad, at least a landscape mode.

Does anybody have news about it?

Would be pleased to test a beta if there is one.

Excuse my enlish.

Marked as solution

Tablet version or landscape support has been 'high priority' for spotify for five months or more. Take that as you will. In the meantime download an app like Set Rotation from the Play store to enable landscape mode

Thanks,

i had tried one earlier in the past year, but player screen was cropped. Now, i found one wich is great.

But, I'm still waiting for a tablet UI!!

Nice week end!!

Sitting on my brand spanking new Nexus 10 tablet, and spotify is useless.

I am canceling the premium subscription, and signing up with the Norwegian alternative found at http://www.wimp.no.
