I've been using spotify for months on my android tablets. On my original galaxy tab it would only do portrait, when i upgraded tablets that wasn't a problem anymore.

Now on my Galaxy Tab 7.7, the update today forces Spotify to run in portrait, but I mainly use spotify in my car where my tablet is mounted on my dashboard and plays through my car stereo. Also when my tablet is on my desk where i would also listen to Spotify on it, the tablet is in landscape but the Spotify mobile app has no option to support landscape. 

Unfortunately if this isn't fixed soon, I'll be disabling my premium subscription and going to another music service.

Landscape has never ever worked for me on Android. I use an Asus Transformer Prime, which is often in it's dock, so the lack of landscape support is a major issue here as you can't simply rotate your device as easily. There's frankly no excuses for this as they are deliberately forcing this action.

Maybe they'd like to explain to us why this restriction is in place and exactly what benefit I'm meant to be getting from it?

With this App : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate you can force the screen to be in landscape mode or such. Only 7 d trial and 2e for license. Or just wait until Spotify fixes stuff up and makes the Native Landscape mode available (like they said: It's a high priority).

As seen as this didn't work in the preview build either, why on earth did they not fix it in the month they had before they released the final build? It's clearly not that high priority.

I see the 0.5.1 update is available today. Guess what? Still no landscape support. Sort it out Spotify!!

Just like to add a me too to this thread. I have Sony Tablet S which is normally Landscape. The normal way to switch to portrait is to turn ithe tablet anti-clockwise. This gives a good grip for your left hand while you operate it with your right. When you do this Spotify is upside down. It may be alright for left-handed people but why should right-handed people be discriminated against.

While i can understand that they dont implement a real tablet layout, not forcing landscape should be possible.

Im often using my transformer with the dock, and then landscape is the only option.

I think spotify should also make itself a webapp... if there was a browser version we could run that in landscape AND you would have a webapp so we can access our music on any machine that has a browser.

Well in that case.. rotatable screen would be highly! welcome. Unusable on tablet now.
