My Question or Issue

For about the past month, whenever I start my Mini Countryman, Spotify seems to not boot correctly. The last song played will be pulled up, and I can start playing that song, but after I start playing it, I can't stop it, I can't fast forward/rewind, I can't skip the song, it shows no songs coming up next (even though there are, and it will continue to play the next songs in the playlist, but it still shows the "frozen" song is playing )and I can't select a different song. I can navigate through the app and my playlists, but I can't interact with the music.

The current workaround that I've found is to change audio sources, then change back to Spotify. So if I switch over to the radio, then back to Spotify, Spotify will start working normally again. But I have to do this every time I start my car.

I had this happen back in December as well, and it was fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify in my car. I've tried that multiple times now, and I've even factory reset my car, but the issue is still there. I've also tried turning off Spotify connect, which did nothing.

To clarify, I am using the Spotify app (version 5.1.0.0) in the car through Mini Connected, not through Android Auto. I don't have Android Auto set up in my car right now. The car is also running the latest software too (11/2024.67)

Hey @gavinrclink,

Thanks for reaching out!

We did some research on our end and wanted to let you know that this issue should best get looked into by Mini as it seems that it's something that has to do with the way their audio system operates. We managed to locate an old but similar issue and in the case of that user it looks like it has been successfully resolved by Mini, so it's worth the shot to reach out to them 🙂

Fingers crossed this gets resolved for you quickly! We're here in case anything is required on our end 🙌🏼
