Spotify Widget Picture not Showing

Spotify Widget Picture not Showing

Device:

Tecno Camon 30 Pro 5G

Operating System:

Android 15

My Question or Issue:

The 4x2 widget on Android does not display the image of the playlist or the current song. It only shows the text and artist's name, but the 3x1 widget, which only displays the currently playing song, shows the image. For reference, I have attached a picture. I have tried reinstalling Spotify multiple times, and this issue occurs on other Tecno phones like the Tecno 20 as well.

Hey there @Zenti

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

It looks like the screenshot hasn't been attached correctly. Would you mind trying again? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info. It'd also be helpful if you could attach the two versions you mentioned (4x2 and 3x1). We'll take a closer look.

Also, has this always happened on your Tecno phone? Just to confirm, have you checked if the same happens on different brands?

We'll be waiting for your reply.

ahh my bad, here is the screenshot (hopefully attached it correctly this time)

Nope. I just got this Tecno phone in early January and installed Spotify on it. When I tried to add a widget, the pictures didn’t appear. It was actually working fine on my old Oppo phone.

Thanks for the response and screenshots @Zenti!

What you're experiencing actually looks similar if not the same as what the users have described in this thread. They've mentioned using third party launchers which is likely causing the widget images not to show.

Could you take a look at the thread and let us know if that's the case for you as well? If it's not, however, we'll continue to investigate together.

In the meantime, we're here if anything else comes up.

Hi! I checked the thread and found that the issue is mostly caused by some launchers, like Nova Launcher. However, I don't use any third-party launcher—I only use the built-in launcher on my Tecno device, which is HiOS Launcher.

Appreciate the quick response and for checking @Zenti.

Just to be on the safe side, could you disable the launcher, restart your device and let us know if Spotify's widget behavior changes?

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi! I don't know how to disable it because it's the only default launcher. I have reset my phone, but nothing changed.

Thanks for the response @Zenti.

I'm not completely sure if you'd be able to uninstall the launcher for example if you can't disable it, but maybe you could find the info here helpful or perhaps you could even reach out to your device's manufacturer for further assistance.

It would be very helpful to test without the launcher in case the widget's behavior changes.

In the meantime just in case, you could give the Spotify app a clean reinstall with the steps here as this helps resolve different performance issues. You've mentioned reinstalling Spotify already which is great, but in case you've not done a more detailed reinstall, give it a try.

Keep us posted 🙂

Hi! I have tried contacting the manufacturer's support, but it may take a day or two to get a reply. However, I also tried completely deleting the app, but the behavior of the widgets did not change.

Hey @Zenti,

We appreciate that you've reached out to the manufacturer and it would be best to wait for their reply as they would know what settings might interfere with the widget.

As mentioned and according to the info in the other thread on the topic, we've noticed that launchers interfere with the Spotify widget and our tech teams are aware of this behavior. For the moment we can't give an estimated time frame if or when this will be changed or fixed, but it's being looked into.

The current workaround would be to disable any launchers on your mobile device if this is possible.

Keep us posted and the Community's here if you need help with anything else in the meantime.
