My Question or Issue

Hello. Lately I've been annoyed by spotify having these random stops/playback issues:

a. sometimes, after a song or two, or even in the middle of a song, it will stop, when in fact it should continue playing. Sometimes after 6 songs or 10 songs, it's random. It will just stop after a specific song (and sometimes in the middle of a song). Note that I don't have any sleep timer turned on, and 99% of the time, I'm on shuffle play and repeat playlist mode. So these should not happen. This annoys me because it awakes me when I realize the music stops, only to end up manually playing the next track.

b. sometimes also, suddenly I don't hear any sound anymore. Then I'd look on my phone, and surprisingly the song is ongoing! This happens many times after finishing a random track. I would check on my phone because I thought the playlist is finished but no, it's still playing but no sound. What I usually do in this case is to skip to the next song and then there's sound again. Like the case above, I 99% of the time have shuffle play on and repeat playlist, so these things shouldn't happen.

PS: I already have made proper settings for spotify, like battery optimizations.

I don't like to reinstall app please, because I have thousands of offline songs in my phone. Please help.

Hey, @user-removed
Welcome to Spotify Community and thanks for reaching out here!

Have you already tried a fast reinstallation of the app on your device? Just take a look at this article below to get help about how to do it:

If the issue persists, you can try to perform another modality of reinstallation, that you can clean all data up, and then reinstall the app on your device. Get more information about the Clean Reinstallation here.

Let me know how it goes after these troubleshooting suggestions.

If you have any other further questions or need more help, let me know! I'd love to help!

I also have this issue. Reinstalled many times, cache cleared. Also, it happens on other Android devices regardless of whether listening on a speaker, earphones or phone only.

Hey, @Slipkickmuorhys

Please, could you check if your phone settings are optimizing the use of Spotify on the background? Check it following it:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. And then, Battery
  3. Tap the three-dot icon at the top
  4. Battery optimization
  5. Tap the drop-down arrow
  6. All apps > Spotify
  7. Don't optimize

It also could appear in:

Settings > Battery > App Power Saving > Detail > (if On) Spotify > Turn off.

If the issue persists, I recommend that you force stop the application and start it again. You can also try to log into another Spotify account and check if the issue occurs there.

Anyway, keep me posted! I'd love to continue helping you.

Kind Regards,

hezorg

I've done all that and mine still doesn't work. Which of Spotify's competitors do you recommend I switch to?
