Using a GS3 with 4.2.2. Basically the spotify app keeps popping up for no good reason in many situations. I dont want the app to start up when I plug in my headphones. The app also opens up every time I unlock the phone from the lock screen. The most annoying however, is that the app pops up in random sitautions. Playing a game? Spotify pops up. Using another player? Spotify pops up. Watching youtube? Spotify pops up. Messaging or using email? Take a guess. The app itself is so very poor in its settings menu that I cant do anything to change and fix this by using it. Im very open to suggestions before I give up on this service and just move on.

problem coninued to persist after reinstallation. Kept playing with the settings and stopped once I turned the device broadcast option off. It would seem odd that this would afftect the spotify app as I only enable it for lyrics. Thanks everyone for their replies.
I have a solution for this . My it was happening on GS6 Edgeplus on Marshmellow 6.0.1 . I logged the phone went to Android Settings

Hey there @wrhydfghjdfth, welcome to the community!
Do you have your android device connected to any bluetooth devices? Also can you try reinstalling the app?
Thank you for your response. No, I do not have any bluetooth devices paired with the device and the option itself is just turned off all the time. I have already reinstalled the app, cleared data and cache.
Is someone else using your account when this happens by any chance?
I highly doubt anyone has acces to my account. I only use spotify on my mobile device and have not logged into my account anywhere else other than to post in here.
OK, just wanted to eliminate an issue with Connect. I must confess, this has me fascinated as I've not come across anything like it. I did find posts complaining about Google Play launching unprompted but I can't see a connection. Could you try reinstalling spotify and see if that makes any difference.

Hello,
I have just experienced this, as well, where Spotify just randomly opens up and starts playing on full blast. This actually happened for the first time last night JUST after I started falling asleep. I've been angry about it the whole day and am trying to contact Spotify about it with no success. I believe, in my case, that it may have started playing in conjunction with a notification I recieved about the band whose song randomly started blaring from my phone. I am going to try to turn my notification settings off and reinstall it and hope that stops it from doing that again. I also hope your issues were resolved.
I also had spotify start playing unprompted - last time when I was trying to answer a call by pressing the button on my headset. I missed the call, and the App started playing using my volume-limited mobile data connection.
As this seems to happen more often, and there also seems to be no option to limit spotify streaming to Wifi, I will uninstall the app until the issue has been solved.
Also: why is this thread marked as "solved" when there is no solution mentioned ?
I am having this problem daily now. I am usually driving when this happens and Spotify opens a band on the top screen and starts playing by itself. All notification settings have been turned off. Reinstallation has not fixed this problem. Spotify....please fix this. It's horribly annoying.
This issue is not solved. Spotify please suggest a fix. Thank you

Hi, you say this happens when you're driving. So you happen to have a Bluetooth headset or car kit at all? If so, is most likely android triggering it to open.
Try installing the app below which tries to capture this behaviour and stop it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.bluetooth.connect.and.stop.play
The problem isn't related to the moment when I connect a device via bluetooth so I don't really wan to install this beta software that doesn't have many adopters. My bluetooth headset is always connected. The problem doesn't start when I connect which is the problem this software solves. I've searched other threads and some are even marked as "solved" even when the problem of Spotify starting on it's own is never actually solved.
I use a bluetooth headphones - spotify keeps on popping up as well. Specially when I need to listen to something else online. To solve this problem, I simply turn off my headphones, quit spotify, and turn on my headphones again. Hope this helps!
