Spotify app not working on my phone or car

My Question or Issue

Up until last week I listened to spotify through my bluetooth connection in the car. Then for a few days it stopped working, on my phone it said it was playing through the car but it wasn't and wouldn't play through the phone either even if I changed it to play through the phone speaker. I uninstalled the app, cleared the cache, checked for updates etc but now all the playlists are empty and any song I search for comes up blank. So I'm presuming its my phone not the car? 

Any thoughts?
