Spotify (connect?) is eating my battery.

Spotify (connect?) is eating my battery.

Today, 2nd Aug. 18, I updated my Spotify app to the latest version which was released in the last couple of days. Since the new version was installed Spotify is always running in the background and launching a mini player everytime I play something in my computer.

Before was just fine, Spotify connect use to launch only on demand, and only on demand I could use it to control my pc from the mobile phone.

I tried several times checking the settings but I do not see any option to disable this, and revert to the previous behaviour, but I couldn´t find any. If this is the default behaviour from now on, I will have to sadly uninstall the app, the same way I do with all the apps that eat my battery while they are closed. 😞

Reproduce steps:

- Explictily close Spotify on the mobile phone.

- Open Spotify desktop and start playing a song (or jump to the next song if a song was previously running)

- Automatically my mobile phone will show a notification with a mini player, from which I can control my desktop player (without explictly open Spotify app).

Hello ermoya,

Thanks for contacting the community. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with this, but I'll try to help you.

Well, yours is a common issue. There are several ways to disable Spotify Connect in your mobile device so you don't run out of battery.

Personally, I reccomend to disable the Spotify Connect functionality by manually putting the Spotify app in 'Offline' mode from within the Spotify Settings screen. That should work, if your problem continues tell me and I'll try to look for another answer.

There's also an idea to allow the service to be turned on/off at will from within the app. Please add kudos to this idea if you would like to see it implemented.
