Spotify connect problem but only with my account

My spotify connect is not working properly - i use my android phone to connect to various devices, and can start the music but after some time (usually after switching to another app and back to spotify), the playback controls within the spotify app are gone (so can't stop the music).  Similarly, the feedback from the device to the spotify app is gone (i.e. the track and its time position doesn't update).  This only occurs on my account on my android phone - using the same account on the desktop is fine, and so is another account on the same android phone.  I've logged in and out, reinstalled spotify, deleted all spotify files i could find, rebooted etc.  Please help!
