Spotify crashes on startup

My Question or Issue

Spotify crashes on startup. I literally just press the icon, it shows the Spotify logo and when it is starting to show the home it crashes.

Latest update fixed it for me. I also have the alpha version

It's happening to me in Android Pie too, using the latest Alpha update.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ here, same issue since the newest Alpha update yesterday.

Just to confirm, are you all in the latest Alpha version of the app available?

 

If so, we'd suggest following the steps provided in this Spotify Answer to report any issues you encounter in the Alpha or Beta versions of the app. 

 

If you aren't in an Alpha/Beta version and you're experiencing this, we'd recommend trying a clean reinstall of the app first. You can follow the steps to do that here

Hi Katerina

Thanks for the quick response! I am on the latest version of the Alpha,
yes. I also did follow those steps and sent a mail with my issue over 24
hours ago to the address provided; I haven't had any response yet, hence my
reply on this post.

Latest update fixed it for me. I also have the alpha version

OK, great to hear! No update yet on my side, I'll keep watching the Play Store. Hope it works!

I'm a premium member, have the latest Alpha/Beta version and have the same issue with it crashing have tried all the solutions no success yet. Version 8515660 , plan premium, country Holland

@MartinB42 Keep in mind that we might not reply to individual issue reports, but all issues do get forwarded to the right team nevertheless, and we do our best to fix them.

 

@Delta427 That's good to hear, thanks for sharing this! 

 

In this case, it may take a while before you get the updated version but the best option to make sure you won't miss a fix is to enable automatic updates of the app. There's more info on how to do that here

Just received the update to version 8.5.16.178 12th of July (update) and
issue is solved.
