Spotify freezes, crashes and drains battery

Spotify freezes, crashes and drains battery

Hi. I've been using Spotify Premium since May this year without problems. But for the past few days, Spotify has been:

- freezing mid-song at random times

- draining the battery on my Samsung Galaxy S7 and making it unusually hot

- crashing, sometimes not responding

What's going on?

By the way, I used Spotify for maybe around 3 hours total since I last charged my phone. It drained 22% of my battery. Is that normal? I had 86% battery when I got to work this morning. I turned on Spotify, listened to my offline songs, and a couple of hours later (and a few Spotify restarts later since it kept freezing), I was shocked to find my battery was at 33%. My phone was extremely hot as well. I immediately force closed Spotify at that point. I needed my phone to stay alive for the rest of the day.

Same for my s7 edge
It was working fine prior to the latest update.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem on my Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge+. It's annoying af. It's crashed like 10 times in the past three days. Stops mid song and after a while is crashes and I'll have to restart the app. It drains a lot of battery as well.

Same here on Galaxy S7, closing only the app "window" does not solve the problem, because the background service stays in what looks like a "infinite loop".

Same here on a Galaxy S6

Hi, I have the same problem, but only since I downloaded premium and I can't find any solutions online. The app doesn't even have to be 'running' to affect my phones battery. I have checked its parameters, but I can't find any options that cause it to stop drastically draining the battery! Even if I force close it, the battery continues to lose power. This is the only app I have downloaded in the last 2 months so I'm sure it's the only one that is draining my battery so rapidly and heating my phone! If this keeps up Spotify is going to cost me my phone and not just a monthly service fee. If there is a solution to this problem, somebody please post it here!
