Spotify isn't playing on mobile data on android. It will only play on Wifi.

Spotify will not play any music or podcasts on android devices while being on mobile data. It will only play correctly on wifi. I've cleared my cache through the app, restarted the app, and deleted and reinstalled the app and the problem still isn't fixed. I've only had this problem with the app and not on the webplayer.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

In order to offer further assistance, can you tell us what model device and OS version you're using?

It's possible that this is caused by your mobile carrier, so it's a good idea to contact them about this as well. There have been certain carriers blocking streaming via mobile data in the past.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Every other aspect of the app works: searching, browsing, song previews, podcasts, but specifically not music. If a song has been played recently over wifi, seemingly cached, then data can play it. I've tried clearing cache, logout & login, reinstall, and every combination of data saver and quality setting.

I have the exact same issue

So, any "Spotify legends" to help us out here?

Hi @Rvh001,

Thanks for the reply. When did this first start happening for you? Is only your Android device affected? Consider performing a clean reinstall if you haven't already.

Let us know how it goes.

I am always very sceptical on solutions like "plz do a clean install", but this time it worked. Issue fixed.

Hi @Rvh001,

Thanks for the reply. We're very happy to hear that it worked out for you. The reason we often suggest the clean reinstall is because we've observed many times that it can help resolve a multitude of issues and it's good to know yours was another such case.

If there's anything else we can do for you, don't hesitate to reach out.
