My Question or Issue

When playing a playlist, Spotify will play a few songs and then either:

  • Stop playing the playlist, returning to the first song in pause mode (as if it had gotten to the end of the playlist)
  • Repeatedly play a downloaded song in the playlist, if there is one

When opening the app, I can see all the songs "grayed out" for a second before it connects to the internet again.

Things I have tried and did not solve the issue:

  • Restarting the app
  • Restarting the OS
  • Clearing the cache
  • Uninstalling the app
  • Clean uninstall of the app
  • Using spotify Lite
  • Logging into my account and signing out of all devices
  • Changing the modem/router for one without NAT
  • Disabling battery optimization for the app

Any help would be appreciated

Hi @miguelbittarell

Welcome to the Community. Thanks for reaching out about this and letting us know all the steps you've tried.

If possible, could you log into your account using a different device? You can also try using a different network to see if the issue persists.

We'd also recommend making sure that your device has enough storage space available and that you're not using any battery saving/task killing apps, as these could cause issues with Spotify's cache.

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hey Mario, thanks for the reply. Let me begin by apologysing for the delayed response - I was trying to solve the issue somehow.

If possible, could you log into your account using a different device? You can also try using a different network to see if the issue persists.

The issue persists in a different network, but not on a different device.

We'd also recommend making sure that your device has enough storage space available and that you're not using any battery saving/task killing apps, as these could cause issues with Spotify's cache.

The device does have enough storage space available. I have tried switching from internal storage to SD and the issue persists on both scenarios.

However, related to the second point, using No Screen Off app (an app that prevents the screen from turning off), the issue stops occoring. This leads me to believe it might be related to some battery saving behaviour.

I do not have any app modifying the default behaviour AFAIK and I have turned off battery optimization for the app.

Any ideas on how to solve this behaviour? Using No Screen Off solves the issue but consumes a lot of battery obviously.

Thanks!

Hi again @miguelbittarell,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Would you mind letting us know if this is happening with all your playlists?

You can also ask a friend or a family member to log into their personal account using your device to see if they can replicate the issue.

If this is still happening only on your phone, let us know it's exact OS version and Spotify version.

Keep us posted, we'll be right here.
