Spotify loses downloads

My Question or Issue

I lost all my gigabytes of high-quality downloaded music while travelling for 2 weeks. The music was stored on an SD-card.

What happened was that the SD-card was not recognised by Android until I reinserted it. Spotify then seemed to go haywire: claiming briefly that I was using a premium feature without a subscription. Anyway, all the downloaded songs were gone.  All the other apps and data on the card was fine. I am in no position to redownload where I am. Very annoying!

Have  I run into some sort of copy protection by Spotify? Is there any way to recover the music without downloading everything from scratch?
