Spotify no longer plays on the smartphone

Spotify no longer plays on the smartphone

My Question or Issue

since yesterday, Spotify no longer plays on the smartphone. I can still play music with my smartphone, e.g. control the PC, but when I put the audio output on the smartphone it no longer plays. I have already reinstalled the app, then it works once. Then when I start the app again, it doesn't play. Does anyone have a hint? Thank you

Hey @Schmarkon!

Thanks for posting about this in our Community.

We'd just like to double check with you if you've performed a reinstall with the steps here, which are a bit more detailed and they ensure that you've cleared any old files that might be causing issues.

If that doesn't do it for you, we can recommend that you check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option.

It's also good to check that Spotify has the permissions to run in the background.

If that's not causing the issue, could you let us know if the song keeps playing but no sound is coming out, or if the song pauses directly when trying to stream from your phone?

Keep us in the loop here!

Hi Elena,

thank you for your answer. Yes I tryd every step, I deleted the cash, I
reinstalled the app, i give Spotify permission to play in the
background..., it does'nt work.

I've since found out, that it is related to Spotify Connect. I can
control Spotify on my PC or TV with my smartphone and also play it
there. I cannot listen music on the smartphone itself. Even a Bluetooth
connection to the car or the cable connection to Android Car does not work.

in this setting, I can use the phone only as remote control

in this setting spotify plays an my laptop.

I hope you can help me, in this condition I can use Spotify no longer,
because it is not possible tto play music on my daily way to work.

Thanky you

Thanks for your detailed reply @Schmarkon!

Does this happen to you on Wi-fi or 3/4G or both? Are you able to stream music if you turn on offline mode (this will prevent any issues that might be caused by Connect)?

Just to be sure, did you follow these steps when you cleared your cache?

Lastly, if you have the option, could you ask a friend or family member to log in with their Spotify account on your phone, so that we can be sure where the issue lies.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Thank you for your answer, yes, I had tried all the tips, it did not help. The error occurred in all networks and could not be remedied by the offline mode.
That went on for a total of 4 days and now suddenly everything works again. I don't understand why, but it works. So the problem is solved for the moment. Thank you for your help.

Hi there @Schmarkon,

Thanks for letting us know that everything works normally again.

Sometimes there issues such as this one might be caused by connection issues or by a recent update.

Keep us posted if this happens again and don't hesitate to give us a shout if you need help with anything else.

Cheers 🙂
