Spotify not finding my samsung tv with spotify connect

I've tried several solutions now for some time, but figured I'd really give it a go now to try to fix this once and for all. 

With the removal of the spotify app from the samsung smart hub, spotify tells me to simply use spotify connect. If only.

I have several android devices I have now tried to make this happen on. My mobile samsung s7 have resetted firmware, resetted spotify, removed cache - still nothing. I have tried to factory reset my samsung tv (it's a 2013 model, but it's allegedly 'smart'), to no avail. I'm running out of ideas here..

To top it, I tried connecting with my crappy lenovo android tablet earlier today. Never even had spotify on it before today, but nope. It was only able to locate my regular computer.

Without spotify running on your TV, connect can't work. It's a shame Samsung removed the spotify app but they seem to be removing lots of other apps from smart hub for some reason. Bearing in mind the awful quality of TV speakers, maybe you have a soundbar or other system connect can be used with?
