Spotify not reacting to playing music

I open the app and a random title I have played at some point will be on the playback bar. The play button won't do anything the pause button doesn't do anything. If I click on a song it will play it regardless of where I found the song. If I try to search to another point in the song it will play a different song all together from the beginning. Because it doesn't think its actively running in the background the music stops all together and the the is put to sleep. If I play a song nothing stops the song from playing. I have to open the app and close it but it doesn't stop playing playing I disconnect my phone from my car or headphones. If I use a different app then close all apps together, the music keeps playing. The app has been doing this since last year and it's getting beyond ridiculous I can't listen to music on my car because i can't be messing around with the app while I drive, it's dangerous! I've ended up using other apps which is annoying because I've had my Spotify account for what must be over ten years now so all my playlists and likes songs are basically useless now.

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community. 

Just to confirm, is this only happening when you're listening to music via Bluetooth or when you're streaming directly on your device as well?

We'd suggest running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you let us know if the same happens using a different phone?
