Spotify playing on its own when app is not launched and phone is locked.

My Question or Issue

Spotify starts playing on its own when app is not launched, phone is locked. I have the latest operating system  and the latest version of the Spotify app. How do I stop this from happening?

That's odd.

Is there any device with your Spotify account on it that could cause this issue?

If yes, try this:

Hit the 'Sign Out Everywhere' button on your account page.

Hi Rico,

I do have spotify on various devices but this is something you can do so
why would this cause the app to start playing on my phone? Sorry it doesn't
make sense, can you please explain further. Thank you in advance.

Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this reply. Could you let us know if you’re still having troubles with this?

If you are, can you the following steps:

1. Go to your phone's settings

2. Search for "Bixby routines" and select "My routines" at the bottom of the page

3. This will take you to another page with a few routine options 

4. Here you can check if Spotify is set in any of the routines you have

5. Toggle the slider to turn it off

I have tried your directions and Spotify is not showing there and I am
still experiencing te same issue. Spotify continues to play even though it
is not launched. I am at a loss of what to do as it should not be
happening. Any other ideas?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

It's possible that some other app has access to your Spotify account and is causing this behavior. To remedy this, would you mind following the steps in this guide and remove any third party apps you don't recognize?

For added security, it' still worthwhile to follow the steps that @Nico posted and sign out everywhere. You can then also set a new password for your account here.
