I've updated (8.9.70.556), also cleared cache and restarted phone, still have problem of screen staying awake
Thanks for the sending over your Spotify version @maxalien. We will pass it on to the team!
@Kangaroo857 we can forward your info as well, but in order to do that we will need your exact app version.
Thanks! We'll keep you in the loop here!
@elena there was a screen shot with version number in my last post.
Idea #1: add a button in the support tab of the app to "copy version info to clipboard" to make it easier for users to post here on forums.
Idea #2: There is a prompt here on this forum that appears WAAAY too frequently that asks "Did you find this article helpful". Ask it once per post for all time (not per day) and be done with it. Super f*cking annoying. Better yet, get rid of it all together.
@elena
New version arrived, problem still happening.
Where's that bug bounty?
Hey @Kangaroo857,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared
If the issue keeps happening for you, and in case you haven't tried after the new version was released, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any old cache that might be causing trouble.
Let us know how it goes.
@oscardc
tried that. app still no worky
This answer is not helpful at all. The issue is persistant regardsless of device or I you uninstalled, clear cache or whatever. It also does not matter if you are in album view, now playing view or playing view. The only views the screen will be locked is the start screen and the browsing views (browsing for album, playlists etc).
The issue is occuring for at least 6 months now.
I have the same problem (spotify prevents autolock), but only in the "single song" screen, i.e. the screen which also shows the lyrics. When the "playlist" screen or the main screen are open, then auto-lock is working.
==> In my opinion, this is a severe security issue.
It is also a problem with unnecessary battery draine (screen does not turn off).
Hey folks,
Apologies for the lack of updates on our end.
We'd like to re-open the investigation regarding this issue, so for anyone still seeing the behavior please share your device model, OS version and your current Spotify version so we can forward the info to our tech team.
Thanks for your help!
Pixel 8, everything up to date.
The problem occurs reproducible.
Hey @tsohr,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Could you send us the exact info @MihailY asked for previously? We need as many details as possible to report this issue to the right team.
We'll be on the lookout.
8.9.94.470
Come on, you should be able to retrieve all information yourself (the Spotify client should tell all version information to the server). Fix the problem.
Get a pixel 8 and reproduce!
Hi, I'm still having this problem, phone stays awake when the "playing from" screen is up. I have just done a full clean reinstall, still same issue.
Xperia 10 iii, Android 13, Spotfiy Premium Family account, Spotify version 8.9.94.470
Hey folks,
Thanks for getting back to us with this info.
We were able to replicate this behavior, so we've forwarded it to the relevant teams.
In the meantime, if anyone else is experiencing this issue, make sure to provide the full info that was previously requested here so we can forward your reports as well.
Thanks!
Workaround: Turn off the "canvas"-settings, which allows to play the short video in a loop. The video prevents the auto-lock.
Unfortunately doesn't work for me - I already have canvas turned off, still issue with screen staying awake
It's not only the "canvas" video. In my case, if (and only if) there is a video on the screen (also a "similar video" somewhere below), then autolock is blocked.
This has been annoying me for a while too. Taking a closer look at what is on screen when it fails to lock does show that there's something animated in the activity currently displayed, even if it's not yet visible because I've not scrolled down to it.
Starting video content automatically used to be optional if memory serves but no longer is. I don't want videos starting anyway regardless of whether they're visible or not, especially if this prevents my screen from locking as it should. I use Spotify as a MUSIC service and have done for over 15 years now. The key word here is MUSIC. There's no video in music. I would honestly like the option not to see ANY video content at all.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
