Spotify uses SD card for downloads but phone shows as internal memory being used

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 5.0.1 with 8 GB of internal memory and a 64 GB SD card. I can download hundreds of songs to my phone no problem so I believe they are going to the SD card. However when I look at my storage my internal phone memory is holding more than 8 GB. This becomes a problem when apps want to update because the phone thinks that there isn't enough free space to perform the updates. I can free up the space by going into the Spotify app settings and clearing cached and app data. Is there something I can do to fix this or is this a bug? If it is a bug, can I submit a bug report somehow?

It may be that you just aren't using your SD card like you think you are or it could be that your SD card is full which can happen quickly if your camera is synced to your SD card as well. Take out your SD card and see what is avaliable on your phone. If all of your songs are still there you are using Internal Storage and if only some of your songs are there you SD card is unfortuantely full and is now downloading onto your device. If that doesn't work you can post it here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/002 and Spotify will log it.

I tried your suggestion of removing the SD card and when I checked Spotify for my downloaded music there was nothing there. I checked the storage and it showed the internal storage as being under capacity. Then I put the SD card back, checked Spotify again and there was still nothing. However the data was still there because I checked the storage information on my phone and it showed the internal storage over capacity again and the SD card still had a significant amount of space used up. I know this is from Spotify because that is what I mainly use my SD card for. I'm not sure how else to explain it.
